Fundraising walk to benefit the Anne Anderson Award

Enjoy the charms of Old Quebec on a fundraising walk to benefit the Anne Anderson Award!

Please join us for a scenic walking tour of historic Quebec and help raise funds for the Anne Anderson Award.  The Anne Anderson Award is given each year to a member of The Cochrane Collaboration who has contributed meaningfully to the promotion of women as leaders and contributors to The Cochrane Collaboration.  The recipient receives a plaque from The Cochrane Collaboration and a cash award of $3000 is designated by the recipient to assist a woman from a low resource setting with her Cochrane Collaboration activities.

This year we are hosting a fundraising walking tour of scenic Québec City, and the funds raised will contribute to the Award coffers to help ensure that the cash award can be continued at the current amount.  The tour will be led by one or more English-speaking Québecers who work through the Morrin Centre, a cultural centre in Québec City; our tour guide(s) is donating her services.

The ‘Walk’ organizers are setting a $10 minimum donation (additional donations welcome!), and participants can also help by being ‘sponsored’ for the walk by their friends and colleagues (suggested amount is $5 per sponsor). Make sure to collect the sponsored dollars ahead of time –these sponsorships are important in meeting our goal.

The walking tour will be limited to 40 people, so we encourage you to sign up early (i.e. starting 12 August) via email.  To make your personal donation and contribute the sponsorship dollars you collect, visit the Anne Anderson representative at the Colloquium, who will be located at the Cochrane Anniversary Merchandise Booth in the Ottawa room (200 C) during breaks.  Those who are not able to go on the tour will be able to purchase a written guide at the desk and can also make a contribution to the Anne Anderson Award Fund.

The walk will be a distance of three to five kilometres and will occur rain or shine (no refunds!).

Time: Meet at the Convention Centre entrance at 18:00, Saturday 21 September. The tour will last about two hours.

Dress: We suggest a good jacket and comfortable walking shoes, as the tour involves some hills.
